Charlie is known for his compassion for his clients, straight forward legal analysis, and for zealously advocating for his clients in factually complex and layered criminal, administrative, and civil matters.
Overview
Charlie’s practice focuses on criminal law and administrative and civil proceedings.
Criminal Law
Prior to joining BHGR, Charlie worked as a Deputy Public Defender in Adams County. Charlie represents clients in all types of criminal proceedings and charges from Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and careless driving to assaults, burglary, domestic violence, sex assault, and homicide in municipal, county, and district courts across Colorado. He works with clients through every stage of a criminal case, including prefiling, discovery, trial, sentencing, record sealing, expungement, appeals, and post-conviction matters. While capable of trying any criminal case to verdict, Charlie works tirelessly to resolve cases prior to trial through negotiations with the district attorney’s office and mitigation efforts. He also helps clients proactively address personal, mental health, and behavioral issues which may have contributed to criminal allegations.
Administrative And Civil Proceedings
Charlie’s criminal practice frequently includes collateral or related administrative and civil law proceedings. As a result, he represents clients in a variety of administrative matters including those concerning student conduct issues, restoration of gun rights, and driver’s license issues. He frequently appears before the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). He also represents clients in a variety of civil claims, including breach of fiduciary duty, business disputes, civil theft, immigration, insurance, medical malpractice, misappropriation, personal injury, protective orders, and trade secret theft.
