Holly VanderSluis’s practice focuses on litigating complex commercial disputes, federal appeals and a variety of business-related matters. She has successfully handled multi-million and multi-billion dollar matters relating to fraud, contract disputes, antitrust and mergers/acquisitions.
Ms. VanderSluis has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in civil actions across the country. Prior to formal proceedings, she advises clients in pre-litigation and defensive approaches as well as risk assessment in their business practices. After the onset of litigation, she is experienced in managing all phases of litigation from inception to appeal. Ms. VanderSluis places a strong emphasis on developing case strategy and negotiating with opposing counsel at the outset of a dispute to maximize the possibility of success for her clients. She excels at drafting all pre-litigation and litigation papers including demand letters, all forms of pleadings, motions and appellate briefs. Ms. VanderSluis also guides clients through the discovery phase of litigation, handles witness and expert preparation, all aspects of pre-trial practice, trials and government investigations.
Prior to joining Berg Hill Greenleaf Ruscitti, LLP, Ms. VanderSluis was an attorney at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, LLP in New York City for over 8 years. There she represented publicly-traded and privately-held companies in high-value complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts, international and domestic arbitration and mediation in a broad range of matters such as fraud, antitrust, false advertising, defamation, bankruptcy and other disputes arising from corporate transactions. She also successfully represented several companies and officers in connection with government investigations conducted by the SEC and other agencies.
While at Paul, Weiss, Ms. VanderSluis was commissioned to perform in a temporary in-house legal role at Deutsche Bank where she co-managed large class action litigations and collaborated with the General Counsel for the Americas and other legal executives in the creation of materials responsive to government agency requests.
While in law school, Ms. VanderSluis was a judicial intern for the Honorable Nina Gershon of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York in the Summer of 2008 and was the Executive Editor of the New York Law School Law Review.
Ms. VanderSluis moved to Boulder in March 2019 from New York City. She is an avid skier and boxer and also enjoys spending time with new friends, horseback riding and discovering new treasures in Boulder.
