Alan C. Friedberg
A trial lawyer for four decades, Mr. Friedberg concentrates his litigation practice in the commercial area, including securities, business disputes, real estate matters, insurance, and professional liability cases.
He maintains an active and diverse trial and appellate practice. In addition to cases before the Colorado appellate courts and the 10th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, Mr. Friedberg argued the case of Howsam v. Dean Witter before the U.S. Supreme Court in October 2002, which resulted in a favorable 8-0 decision.
Mr. Friedberg is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell’s peer review ratings system. He was also selected to Colorado Super Lawyers in the field of business litigation from 2006 through 2020 and was named in the 2008 through 2016 “Colorado Super Lawyers – Corporate Counsel Edition.”
Prior to joining BHGR, Mr. Friedberg spent more than 36 years with Denver-based Pendleton, Friedberg, Wilson & Hennessey P.C. Previous to private practice, he served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps where he prosecuted and defended hundreds of courts martial. Mr. Friedberg completed paratrooper training at the U.S. Army Airborne School and completed tours of duty in Colorado and Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star. After his military service, he clerked for Judge Robert H. McWilliams on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.
Mr. Friedberg earned his J.D. from Yale Law School and his undergraduate degree from University of Virginia. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
A long-time member of the Boulder County, Denver, Colorado, and American Bar Associations, Mr. Friedberg is a graduate of Leadership Boulder. He formerly served as a member of the Colorado Bar Association Board of Governors, Chairman of the Denver Bar Association’s Legal Services Committee, and adjunct professor for the University of Denver School of Law. He has been an instructor at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) and has presented at numerous continuing legal education seminars.
Mr. Friedberg was the Commercial Law Editor for Trial Talk, a publication of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, from 1990 through 2017.
