Jon uses his experience, intellect, fresh perspective, rigorous preparation, and tireless advocacy to help his clients manage crises and solve complex legal problems in the United States and abroad.

Jon represents clients throughout the U.S. and abroad on multi-faceted issues across a wide range of legal disciplines, including civil litigation, criminal defense, international law, and personal injury cases.

CIVIL LITIGATION

Jon practices in state and federal civil court, representing individuals and corporate clients in all types of civil cases, including banking, breach of fiduciary duty, civil theft, commercial contracts, conservatorship and guardianship, corporate governance, fraud, insurance, intellectual property, real estate, securities fraud, and trusts and estates. Jon is also experienced in water law litigation and appeals. He has successfully represented his clients in disputes involving hundreds of millions of dollars.

CRIMINAL DEFENSE

Jon represents individual and corporate defendants in federal and state criminal courts on everything from investigations to protective orders, grand juries, jury trials, appeals, post-conviction work and related licensing, regulatory, and administrative issues. He is experienced in all types of criminal matters, including multi-jurisdictional white-collar crimes as well as assault, domestic violence, drug manufacturing and sale, murder, sexual assault, vehicular homicide and assault, and theft.

INTERNATIONAL LAW

Jon represents individuals, and corporations with assets located throughout the world on matters concerning banking, breach of fiduciary duty, commercial contracts, corporate governance, fraud, insurance, intellectual property, real estate, trusts and estates, and white-collar crimes. He helps his clients manage local counsel, accountants, liquidators, and other professional advisors. He has handled matters in BVI, Canada, Cayman Islands, China, England, Holland, Jamaica, Jersey, Italy, Malta, Montenegro, Slovakia, and Spain. 

PERSONAL INJURY

Jon represents plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving severe injury and death in vehicular and workplace accidents and related insurance coverage disputes. He also handles medical malpractice and product liability suits.

Jon has served on BHGR’s Management, Compensation, and Ethics Committees, and leads the firm’s Criminal Practice Group.

Jon grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and embodies the “Show Me” State attitude to his legal work. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two grown sons, participating in endurance athletic events, free diving, running, skiing, traveling, and “wildernessing.” 

Jon has also served in various volunteer capacities for Congregation Har HaShem in Boulder, Colorado (Board of Trustees, 2011-2013; Campaign Committee, 2007-2009; Ritual Committee, 2009-2011) and on the Board of Directors for Teens, Inc. (1998-2003) and Mountain People’s Cooperative (1996-1998).
